The Young Leader training programme aims to increase the students confidence by developing and enhancing core skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership over several weeks.  These skills are then utilised at an exciting multi-sport festival for 220 local primary school children.

What the Training Sessions Involve

Students will undergo six lots of 1-hour training sessions which take place before and after the festival.

  • Sessions 1-3 will prepare them to believe in themselves and be at their best as leaders at the festival
  • Sessions 4-6 will focus on learning and developing transferable skills and confidence which will help students with life both at school and after school, whether that is in the workforce or at university.

Training will be from experienced SportInspired trainers and they will be supported and mentored by volunteers from local businesses.

Young Leader Involvement at the Festival

Your students will take on the role of Team Leaders or Assistant Sports Coaches, to inspire and support the primary pupils throughout the day at the festival.  During the day the approximately 200 primary school pupils from the local community are divided into teams and take part in 6 sports provided by local sports organisations/clubs.

Along with the SportInspired team, local business volunteers will be on hand to support both your students and the primary pupils on the day helping to provide inspiration and to support with the delivery of the activities.
