The epic Thames200 is back for 2023. Will you swim, run, cycle for UK kids in poverty?

The Thames200 is back, raising important funds to enhance the physical and mental health of deprived children in the UK through sport.  With the cost-of-living crisis, schools and families will have no choice but to cut back on grass roots sports funding, and we can help.

In 2023, all proceeds from the Thames200 will go to SportInspired, a national charity helping children living in poverty discover and enjoy their favourite sports.

When and where is it?

Set in the beautiful Berkshire countryside, at Beale Park, sandwiched in the middle of the North Wessex Downs and the Chilton Hills, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a renowned and stunning wild swimming location. If you’re not participating, you can still enjoy the surroundings while supporting your competing friends and family.

The event is being held on Saturday 24th June 2023, 8am - 8pm.

With stunning  countryside as the setting, everyone’s contribution counts, bringing together highly committed athletes with those who prefer recreational sport, into outstanding teams.

How it works

1 swimming Leg = 2 kms

1 running Leg = 10 kms

1 cycling Leg = 25 kms

  1. Each team must complete 15 Legs of swim, run & bike, including at least 1 Leg of each discipline & at least 200km overall.
  2. Teams choose their own strategy for who does what, in what order, to complete as many consecutive Legs as possible in 12 hours. Note: it is only the Legs done consecutively that count towards the 'Fastest Team Cup'.
  3. Teams can 'double up' (have 2 members doing Legs at the same time in the same or different disciplines) as many times as desired throughout the day.
  4. Individual participants can do any number of Legs, from just one in a single discipline, to many across all three disciplines.
  5. All teams start at 8am and must finish by 8pm.
  6. All swimming must be completed by 4pm.

We want every team to finish. To help every team to complete the 15 legs and 200km minimum in 12 hours, you may choose to:

  1. 'Double up' on as many Legs as needed.
  2. Substitute as many Legs from 1 discipline for another (whilst still do at least 1 Leg of all 3 disciplines.
  3. Accept 1 or more 'donated' legs by another team.

Music and awards are immediately at the end. If you finish the 200 kms & 15 legs before 8pm, you can just relax, or continue until 8pm and compete for the additional trophy of ‘Most Generous Team’ by helping other teams to finish.

This event has a limited number of competitor spaces and at cost of just £50 per participant, we strongly suggest you get in while you can!

Why Participate

"Thames 200 is an awesome event, it pushes you further than the you think you can go. It's an excellent team event to! What I love is that you can get a team of people from a variety of sporting disciplines, and you can all do as much or as little as you want. There is a shared goal of getting to the end as a team, but also across all the teams, thus creating a strong bond which really helps you to dig deep when you really need it. I’d highly recommend the event and can’t wait to take part again next year!"
